Obituary of Stanley Brent
Stanley Dean Brent, (52) peacefully passed away at his home in Fruita, Colorado on February 17, 2012. Stanley was born October 19th 1959 in Denver Colorado to the parents of Ronald and Beverly Brent. Stanley and his family lived in Denver, Colorado until the spring of 1960 when his parents and sister Virlynda moved to Arriba, Co to what is known as the Flock place north of Arriba, Colorado. Stanley lived there until 1961 when his family moved to what is now the family farm. Stanley attended his twelve years of school in Arriba until graduating in 1978. While going to school, Stanley worked on his parents farm as well as his Grandpa Kermit Brents farm.
Stanley enjoyed driving tractors, trucks, combines and other equipment on the family farm. He ended up going to work on several harvest crews with Robbie Boyd, Calvin Harvey and Dave Jones. They cut wheat, flax, milo and corn. They traveled from the border of Mexico to the border of Canada. He also worked at one of the local grain elevators in Arriba, Colorado. Stanley also helped a neighbor raise pheasants that were then turned loose for hunting. Stanleys real love was for motorcycles, old cars and pickup trucks. He was a lot like his Grandpa Kermit. If it had a motor and wheels he wanted to learn more about it and touch it. He was so proud of his pride and joy, his Beamer motorcycle.
He also had a love for music. One of his favorite groups to listen to was Moody Blues. When Stanley was in high school Virlynda and Stanley would listen to music for hours. Moody Blues was the group they listen to the most. Later on Stanley was in Las Vegas with his parents and he noticed that Moody Blues was playing at one of the casinos. Even though it was completely sold out somehow he managed to not only attend the concert but he watched the concert from back stage and spent time after the concert with the group. He came away from there with not only all of the groups autographs but a nice jacket and other memorabilia from the group.
Stanley also worked with his Uncle Herb Brent at Digby Truck line and then moved on to McDonald Equipment Company. He drove a semi-tractor trailer across many states. Once he even hauled a load of honey bees and got a big sting out of life. He worked building the very sharp razor wire fence at the Limon Prison. He also worked installing the high voltage power lines going through eastern Colorado. He even worked on an oilrig for a while. Stanley worked for his brother-in law Ron and his sister Virlynda selling pond supplies to garden centers and nurseries. For a time he worked selling insurance to the people that lived in eastern Colorado. After seeing all of the beautiful country Stanley fell in love with his camera taking picture after picture of everything he liked everywhere he went. He really took some very good photographs. He also worked in a nursing home assisting the elderly. He even had a passion for cooking and went to culinary school for a while. He just loved trying all different types of work.
There are so many things that could be shared about his life but more than anything he loved and cared for the things that meant the most in life family, friends and enjoying a good time.
Stanley was preceded in death by his Grandpa Virgil Todd and his Grandma Arlene Brent. Stanley is survived by his Grandpa Kermit Brent of Genoa, Colorado, Grandma Evelyn Todd of Fruita, Colorado, his parents Ronald and Beverly Brent of Arriba, Colorado; four sisters, Virlynda Knutson (Ron) of Centennial, CO, Lisa Richardson (Steve) of Colorado Springs, CO, Michelle Freilinger (Mike) of Castlerock, CO, Jeannelle McCaffrey (Cory) of Flagler, CO and one brother Dan Brent (Christine) of Colorado. He left behind many family and friends.
