Obituary of Elaine Bates

Elsie Elaine (Janda) Bates, 97, of Strasburg, Colorado, passed away on April 5, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born near York, Nebraska. Later, she moved to Denver, where she met and married Charles Bates. They raised their two children, Charles and Cheryl, in Denver, Byers, and Strasburg. Elaine worked as a schoolteacher and on the family farm for most of her life. Later, she worked in food service at Stapleton Airport until her retirement. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, and her dogs. Elaine crocheted and gave away thousands of crosses over the years. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents Gust and Elsie Janda and her siblings Vi Lackey, Pearl Linde, Dale Janda, and David Janda. She is survived by her children, Charles Bates and Cheryl Hartzer (Ron). Elaine had 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 3 great, great-grandchildren.
