Obituary of Richard Darwin Jorgensen Sr.

Richard Darwin Jorgensen Sr., age 65 of Byers, Colorado born March 22, 1953, died Feburary 2, 2019 peacefully at home from a heart attack. Rick is survived by his loving wife Vertta, their three children Richie (Kelly), Jenna and Yvette, their six grandchildren Randy (Mimi), Abby, Sara, Jack, Izzy and Chris, and by his brothers Den and Tom (Dianna) and sister-in-law Erin. Rick was preceded in death by his parents Morrie and Betty and his younger brother Chip. 

Rick loved his family, guns, the scouting program, and most recently enjoyed creating fairy gardens and doing ceramics at BusyBeez. Rick was a very talented man that could take almost any idea and make it a reality. He excelled in taking what was someone else’s "junk" and making it useful.

When Rick was asked how he was doing, he would most always say, "Well, I have not quite decided, but I am vertical and ventilating". There are not beautiful enough words to express the loss we feel, for Rick our husband, father, grandfather and friend. Rick touched so many lives that the number is too great to count. Many feel honored that they have had the privilege of just knowing Rick. Rick was very kind and giving of his knowledge and willing to help those that needed help with a project, school or a neighbor in need. Rick never looked for praise or acknowledgement for his time or knowledge that he so freely shared.

A viewing will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 55126 E. Wolf Creek Drive, Strasburg, CO 80136, on Feb 15th from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm. Funeral services will be held at the same location on Feb 16th at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made.
