Marvel Brinkhoff

Obituary of Marvel Brinkhoff

Marvel Rose Brinkhoff went home to be with her Lord on October 7, 2009 after a lengthy illness, surrounded by her family. Marvel was born on December 6, 1932 North of Stratton to Everett M. Edmunds and Goldie P. (Tryon) Edmunds. She grew up in the Stratton/Vona area and graduated from Vona High School in 1950. Marvel married Wayne R. Brinkoff in Burlington on April 7, 1951. In 1953 shortly after Wayne completed his tour with the USMC (during the Korean War) they settled 17 miles South of Vona, working for Iron Mueller farming and ranching until they retired in 1995. She was a housewife, mother and helped on the farm and ranch. Upon retiring they moved into Flagler. Marvel was a member of the Worthwhile Home Demonstration Club in Vona for over 50 years. She enjoyed swimming, fishing, camping, traveling, hobby club, playing cards with family and the Jolly Dozen Pitch Club, helping with the volunteer ambulance service and many activities involving her children at school. She simply enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Preceding her death in were her parents, one infant sister, two brothers and one great grandson. Marvel is survived by her husband Wayne, daughter Debra Brinkhoff of Denver, son David (Arlene) Brinkhoff of Bennett, son Donald (Bibi) Brinkhoff of Colorado Springs, daughter Deanna Mead of Grand Junction, brother Marvin (Lorraine) Edmunds of Sioux City, Iowa, sister Joyce Edmunds of Cedaredge, brother Melvin (Bud) Edmunds of Cedaredge, sister-in-law Evelyn Edmunds of Las Animas, uncle Ralph (Carolyn) Tryon of Fort Collins, 15 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Marvel fought a long hard fight with cancer, but never gave up living. Her last month at home was surrounded by many family members laughing, remembering the good times (what a remarkable memory she had), playing cards and just being together. She was very much at peace, incredible strength and was an encouragement to all of her family up to the very end. She will be missed very much by all who loved and knew her. Marvel's funeral services were held on Monday, October 12, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Love Funeral Home with family friends, Pastor Cecil and Jan Jensen officiating. Burial followed at the Vona Cemetery. Visitation was held on Sunday, October 11, 2009 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Love Funeral Home in Burlington. Memorial gifts may be made in Marvel's name to the Caring Hands Hospice or the Flagler Community Ambulance Services and may be left at the Colorado East Bank and Trust in Stratton.
