Daisy Alpha Jorgensen passed away peacefully on December 4, 2009, at the age of
84. A long time resident of Limon, she was known for her caring, thoughtfulness and determined spirit.
She was born July 11, 1925 in Clayton, Kansas, but moved to Flagler, Colorado when she was 6 years old. Her parents Jessie and Bill Ruby bought a farm and later ran the Ruby Market in Flagler.
Daisy graduated from Flagler High School and went on to study pre-nursing at the University of Denver for a year then spent 3 years at The Children Hospitals School of Nursing. She then came back to Flagler to help Dr. John Straub at the hospital.
On October 6, 1946 she married the love of her life, Bill Jorgensen, who also grew up in Flagler. They had 2 children, Ed and Debi. In 1956 the family moved to Limon when Bill and Daisy bought the Ruby Motel from her parents. Daisy ran the motel and Bill commuted to Flagler to help run The Jorgensen Implement Company with his family. Daisy worked long and hard hours and it was a successful business. After selling the motel, she worked for Don Morrison for nine years.
When she wasnt working she enjoyed biking, swimming, skiing, boating and traveling. Her travels took her to Norway, Denmark, Sweden, The Philippine Islands, Hong Kong, Taiwan, The Caribbean and many places in the US. When she was inside she enjoyed cooking, painting, playing cards, knitting and crocheting.
Daisy was devoted to her family and felt truly blessed with 4 grandchildren, Jay
Jorgensen of Houston TX, Tyler Jorgensen of Highlands Ranch CO. Morgan (Chris)
Kooi of Littleton CO. Jared (Andrea) Wyant of Parker CO. and one great granddaughter Camryn Faye Kooi.
