Obituary of Kenneth Scheierman

Lifelong Stratton, Colorado resident Kenneth “Kenny” Scheierman, 94, died Wednesday February 10, 2010 at the Grace Manor Center in Burlington, CO. He had been a resident there for the past three years. Kenneth was born August 5, 1915. He was one of eight children born to Henry and Anna (Thaut) Scheierman in Sutton, Nebraska. His family moved to Stratton when he was seven years old. He later attended and graduated from First Central High School, south of Stratton, in 1933. He was united in marriage to Lucille Hooper in 1938 and to this union two daughters were born. Their divorce was finalized in 1951. On March 4, 1952, Kenny was united in marriage to Mabel M. Garner at her parents home in Stratton. Kenneth had a passion for the land and livestock. He retired from farming and ranching in 1995. He was 80 years old. He was a very active member of the Stratton Church of God where he taught a Sunday School Class of boys, served approximately 50 years on the Board of Trustees and was an usher. Kenny was a charter member of the Morgan Community College Foundation Board a former member of Rotary, in which he had perfect attendance for over 25 years. He was also a member of Gideon’s International and the Lions Club. He served twenty years as Kit Carson County Commissioner, and was on the Stratton Co-op Board for twenty four years. In earlier years he was active in supporting the Triple-L youth ranch that was located in Center, CO. Kenny is preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Henry, Ted, Herb, and Gus, Sisters; Katie Maser, Annie Maser, and Clara Pantzer. Those left to cherish his memory are hs loving wife of fifty-eight years, Mabel of their home in Stratton, Daughters Beverley County and husband Jerry of Burlington, Betsy Schutte of Lone Tree, Colorado. Five grandchildren, Jeff County and his wife Jill, Jodi County, Lance Short, Kenya Huppert and husband Scott, and Clay Short. Also surviving are his great grandchildren Jenna, Jade, Jett County, Justin Long, Jasmine County, Justine Roop, Ashtyn Huppert, and Kaden Huppert.
