Obituary of Carl Adolf
This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it. Ps.118:24 Alas I rejoice for this is the day the Lord took me home.
Carl was born on April 6, 1927 to Carl Adolf, Sr. and Clara (Stahlecker) Adolf and raised on the family farm north of Bethune. As a baby, Carl was baptized at the Immanuel Lutheran Church. While attending this church, during his childhood he attended confirmation classes, first under the German Language and then again under the English Language, and was expected to memorize Psalm 119; all 176 verses. He attended the old brick school in Bethune through the eighth grade. Carl quit school to devote his time working on the farm with his father and neighbors.
Later he was drafted into the army, receiving his training in Ft. Ord, CA and Osaka, Japan where he became a pharmacist. After his honorable discharge, Carl returned home where he married the love of his life, Betty Flider. There were married for 59 years and 11 months to the day and blessed with four children.
Carl made his living through farming, carpentry, with his father, and later delivering mail. He was a God fearing man who taught many years of Sunday School. He was a craftsman in wood and metal with his creative mind and skilled hands.
He also used his gift to extend his love and devotion for the Bethune School in creating and building games and prizes for their carnival and making repairs on the school whenever necessary.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; his four children Arlinda Wardlow, Karen Sue Holmes, Doyle Adolf and Kathy Webb and their spouses; thirteen grandchildren; along with his siblings Lil Schaal, Joan Koss, Ray Adolf, Clord Adolf and their families.
He is preceded in death by his parents Carl Adolf Sr. and Clara; siblings Everett Adolf, Fern Jefferson and brother Irvin Adolf.
