Mary Bowhan

Obituary of Mary Bowhan

Mary Eileen Bowhan was born April 25, 1929, to Earl and Ethel (Morrison) Hawkins in Fort Morgan, Colorado. She was born an identical twin, one of seven children. The family moved to Hugo, Colorado, where she graduated from High School in 1947. She married F. Keith Bowhan that same year, and together they raised three children during their 68-year marriage. Mary distinguished herself with her compassionate, kind, caring, disposition and her practical wisdom. She always found ways to help and support others, from taking in foster children, to working as a nurse’s aide at the Lincoln County Community Hospital, to helping her children with their young families when needed. Keith and Mary have always had strong bonds with friends and family wherever they resided, be it in Hugo or in Coolidge, Arizona, where they traveled as snowbirds during the winter months after they retired. Mary lived a full and happy life, always placing other’s needs and welfare before her own. This altruist love and generosity is returned by her many friends and family. She will be missed. Mary is preceded in death by her parents and three of her siblings, Roger Hawkins, Helen Wiedenfeld, and Lucille Igou. She is survived by her husband Keith, twin Marion Jones, siblings Hazel Jensen and Dorothy Garlick, children Brian, Brett, and Berna Faye, and her six adoring grandchildren and one great grandchild.
