Obituary of Lois Wisdom

Lois Arthena (O’Neill) Wisdom (Artie to her friends) went to be with the Lord on June 13, 2010 surrounded by her family. She was born on September 13, 1924 in Sharon Springs, KS to Jerry & Gladys (Beeler) Aumiller. In 1932 the family moved to Seibert, CO where Arthena attended school and graduated from Seibert High School in 1943. She worked as a telephone operator when she graduated high school. On April 3, 1944 she married Richard O’Neill and to this marriage were born Larry, Barbara, Judy, Connie and Duane. She worked as a cook at the school, as a clerk at the Post Office, and as a homemaker on the farm while raising her family. She always had big garden and enjoyed working in it. Music was a very important part of Arthena’s life. She started playing the violin and singing as a child and later learned to play guitar and piano and it brought her many years of joy. She played violin and sang with different bands for nursing homes throughout the past 30 years and most recently played with The Sunshine Band in Greeley and loved it very much. She was an avid Rockies fan and watched every game she could. She also loved to make jewelry and spent many winter days making necklaces and bracelets for her family, friends and to pass out to the women at the nursing homes. She crocheted afghans for all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and they will be treasured gifts. She lived most of her life in Seibert and spent several years in Stratton and Wray before moving to Greeley in 1997. She’d had several surgeries and illnesses throughout her life but always remained positive. The most important thing in her life was her family. She loved spending time with them on holidays and birthdays and enjoyed watching the kids growing up and she was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Arthena didn’t know a stranger and was a very kind and giving Christian and will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her children Barbara (Rick) Young of Sterling, CO, Judy Hobbie of Burlington, CO, Connie O’Neill of Greeley, CO, and Duane O’Neill of Grand Junction, CO; grandchildren Angie (Erik) Hoagland of Evergreen, CO, Heidi (Sascha) Archie of New Rochelle, NY, Alissa (Grant) James of Burlington, CO, and Jeremy (Star) Hobbie of Yelm, WA, and Alexis O’Neill; great grandchildren Sydney and Rylan Hoagland, Logan and Avrie James, Cameron and Nathan Hobbie; sisters Fern Parrott of Casa Grande, AZ and Margery (Merrill) Amsberry of Federal Heights, CO and many nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
