Mayra Herrera

Obituary of Mayra Herrera

Mayra Yanet Herrera was born March 7, 1982 in Juarez, Mexico. She was the oldest child of Andres and Maria (Lopez) Herrera. Shortly after her birth, her family moved to Burlington, Colorado, where Victoria, Junior, and Juanita joined the family. She loved life and enjoyed being the center of attention. Mayra was positive she was everyone's favorite, daughter, granddaughter, niece, cousin and friend. One of Mayra's gifts was making everyone laugh, even if she didn't always like the situation. Mayra was always dependable. If a family member was sick, she was always willing to be there for anything they needed. Her kind heart, allowed her to be a person her family could go to when they needed to talk. Mayra was always willing to listen. She was never afraid to show her emotions, first she would cuss and then she would cry. Mayra was the typical oldest child. While she loved each of her siblings, she never felt bad about torturing them. After all, someone needed to teach them life's lessons. Her favorite games to play on the farm were Marco Polo and Ghosts in the Graveyard. Mayra attended Bethune Schools where she graduated from Bethune High School in 2000. She began her family with her high school sweetheart, Tito Herrera. One of her proudest accomplishments were her two children, Jose Andres (Chepo) and Abigail Herrera, but two was enough. Mayra, Chepo and Abby spent time pretending to clean house. The result was quality time spent with her kids and Mayra screaming, “Clean up your mess!” According to Mayra, the best day at the Hoppster's office was the day he hired her. She enjoyed putting her co-workers in “sticky” situations. When she left threatening notes she always signed, “Love, Mayra.” She loved to share food and friendship. Mayra volunteered her mom to bring lunch to everyone at the doctor's office on more than one occasion. She enjoyed eating and eating and eating and eating … She always enjoyed a good cup of coffee at Grandma and Grandpa's house. Mayra will always be remembered for her high energy, love of life, compassion for others, and her occasional sassy behavior. Celebrate her life as it was. Remember her always with your heart and the hope that one day we will be together again. She was preceded in death by her brother; Jr. Herrera, one aunt Sonia De Leon, maternal great grandfather; Tomes Lopez and great grandmother; Natalia Flores. Mayra will be sadly missed by her children; Joses Andres and Abigail Herrera, her parents; Andres and Maria Herrera, her sisters; Victoria and Juanita Herrera all of Burlington. Maternal grandparents; Jose and Victoria Herrera of Burlington and paternal grandparents Mauro and Juanita Lopez of Mexico. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
