Obituary of Florence Kahler

Florence Rose Kahler, 97, of Hugo, Colorado passed away on November 24, 2010. Florence was born on August 24, 1913 to Alfred and Grace (Potter) Rice one of nine children. She grew up in the Hugo area graduating from Hugo High School in 1931. She married Arnold Frank Kahler on January 10, 1934 and the couple was blessed with two children. Florence was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school, played the organ, served in the LWML and enjoyed all of her bible studies. She felt that her Christian beliefs were the most important thing and shared those beliefs with others leading bible studies. She was an accomplished seamstress, often making her own patterns and loved to sew for the grandchildren. Florence made many quilts and gave at least one to every family member. In her memory book she wrote “enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting, knitting, cooking and reading”. She restored dolls until she was unable as she quoted “as a child I loved dolls”. Her advice would be “put God first in all of your thoughts and activities” She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Alan and his wife Helen. She was also preceded by all her siblings except Doris Cochreham. Florence is survived by her son Merlin Duane (DeeAnne) Kahler, granddaughter MarySue (Shane) Coleman, grandsons Tony (Vicki), Rodger, (Karla), Russell, Ronald (Elisa), Ryan (Cathy), Robert (Sarah) Kahler and Melissa Getty is listed with the grandchildren in her bible. She is also survived by 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
