Childhood memories - December 9, 2010
Posted: December 10, 2010 | Last Revised: December 10, 2010
I remember Howard as a hardworking and clever farmer who could build things and keep things running. He always seemed happy and liked to visit whenever he saw you. I remember him calling square dances at Walk's Camp, being the Craftsmanship project leader for the club, helping with various 4-H club activities and visiting with everyone, with that jolly attitude he always seemed to have.
I especially remember how much I enjoyed going coyote hunting with him and Lester. They would come by our house and pick Terry and me up and off we'd go, driving through the stubble fields and pastures around the neighborhood in his old coyote truck with his dog box in the back. He seemed to love doing that and we had a blast.
He helped us get some land to farm up in Washington County and was good to our family. It seemed like he really enjoyed farming. I appreciate everything he did for me and am saddened at his passing. Our sympathies to the Hess family during this time of loss.
