Obituary of LeRoy Clark
Former Burlington, Colorado resident Myron LeRoy Clark passed away on December 21, 2010 at his home in Evans, Colorado. He was 91 years and 21 days old.
LeRoy was born on December 1, 1919 in Norton, Kansas to Myron Welch and Aura Evelyn (Jones) Clark. He was the second of nine children.
LeRoy attended school in Norton, Kansas up through the 10th grade. In 1944, LeRoy was drafted into the United States Army and served two years in WWII. He was honorably discharged.
LeRoy was married in Norton, Kansas in 1939 to Mabel Esslinger. To this union five children were born. Marvin, Marion, Roger, Joyce, and Jeanine.
In 1969 LeRoy married Mary Jane Bartow from Denver, Colorado. Together they farmed and enjoyed traveling, even going to Europe on a Farm tour. They also later divorced.
In 1985, in a Christmas Eve ceremony LeRoy married Louise Elizabeth Parsons. LeRoy retired at this time and they moved to Deming, New Mexico. They made many friends and enjoyed dancing with acquaintances, traveling and sightseeing with their RVs, spending time also in Silver City, New Mexico. LeRoy acquired a little Chihuahua about this time named Lucky. Lucky was a constant companion until only a few weeks before LeRoys death when he could no longer take care of him and had to give him away. He even took him for rides on his scooter.
Leroy worked as a farmer, custom harvester, working on machinery and welding. In his retirement years he did extensive woodworking, making several grandfather clocks for family and friends and made two violins which he enjoyed showing people and even how to play tem a little. This was quite an achievement because he was nearly blind from macular degeneration.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister, his wife Louise, and one granddaughter-in-law. He is survived by his children Marvin and Marion Clark of Las Vegas, Nevada, Roger Clark and his wife Cathy, Joyce Jacobsen and her husband Vernon all of Burlington, Colorado, and Jeanine Schlichenmayer of Evans, Colorado, nine grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren. Two brothers, three sisters and many nieces and nephews and some very special friends that was near and dear at his death and also helped to take care of him.
