The notice of your mom's death was in the Dodge City Globe today. I was so sad to hear of her passing. She was like a sister to me when I was small and my mother (Essie) adored her. After we moved to Flager as temporary neighbors, we again got to know her as a wife and mom. She was a great person. She was always upbeat, kind, helpful and willing to go the extra mile for all she knew. When I was 6 or 7, your mom worked for my mom cooking for harvest men. I was always so excited to have her come as she always paid some attention to me even though she was very busy cooking in a small, hot kitchen for at least a dozen men. I remember my mom saying Doris could do more work than anyone there and she could do it twice as fast.
She was a wonderful wife to your Dad and she loved all you kids more than you will ever know. I will cherish my memories of her. Of course, my dad, James, thought so much of your whole family. He and your dad were fast friends and enjoyed each other immensely. Now that all our parents are gone, we still have the blessing they gave us by raising us up in farm communities where people took care of one another and we were taught values and guidelines for living that will last for generations to come. Lovd always, lou

Dear Children,
I am so blessed and grateful for the time that I was able to spend with your mother. She truly saved my life with her acceptance, support and guidence. She was the catylst for supporting my hiring at CMHC and today, as a result of her faith in me, I am happy in my life and enjoy the opportunity of helping others who have their own struggles. I know that all of you miss her, and know that you are not alone. She was my hero and my role model and I am blessed to have many wonderful memories. She was an angel on earth and she has now joined Bud in their next journey together. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayer. Love, Jeanette

Christen, Susan, Dan, Dian, and Karen and your families, Please know how much you're thought of at this time of loss. Your family was always very kind to ours as we grew up out there in the "north forty". Your mom was a sweet lady and now your dad can continue to give her fits!! Loved his teasing... :)
