Young Friends
Posted: March 10, 2011 | Last Revised: March 10, 2011
We got to know Charles and Marilyn many years ago. They had recently moved to Fargo, ND, where Marilyn had taken a job at "Thrifty Scot" motel. They started attending Grace Baptist Church, where we were also members. They were faithful in their attendance, and soon became members.
We quickly became fast friends and spent many Sunday evenings after church, together. We never lacked for conversation or good food. I don't think there was ever anything that we didn't agree on. We couldn't have asked for better Christian friends to encourage us in our walk with the Lord.
Amazingly, Marilyn and I even got pregnant with our firstborns, very close together. She delivered Jacob in February, and I delivered Livia in March. I think that both of us thought that maybe someday...
When we were faced with bad teaching in our church, Charles and Marilyn, along with us and 3 other families, left our church and started a little fellowship of our own. We met in the community room at the motel where they lived and worked. We were a close group and our relationships grew stronger.
Once again, Marilyn and I got pregnant. This time the outcomes were a bit different. I miscarried, but Marilyn went to full term and delivered Caleb. It was a difficult time for us, but both Charles and Marilyn were there to give comfort and support and to cry with us.
When they decided it was time to leave Fargo and move back to Burlington, we were sad, but totally understood their desire to move back to where they had family.
Over the years even though we had not physically seen them, we have kept in touch. We always looked forward to the Christmas letter and picture, and have watched the kids grow.
A little over a year ago, Marilyn and I found each other on Facebook. We started messaging back and forth, talking about kids, things we enjoyed, and sharing prayer requests.
I will miss those little notes, and the yearly updates. Even though we had not seen each other in so many years, we have a bond that will never be broken. We had a bond in our relationships with Jesus Christ that can never be taken away, and one day we will meet again. Until then...we have the memories!

We will never forget the good times we had as young parents many years ago in North Dakota.
Your family will be in our prayers for many days to come.

Until me meet again...thanks for the memories.

Prayer Warrior - March 7, 2011
Posted: March 7, 2011 | Last Revised: March 7, 2011
Marilyn and I have been in Bible Study for many years. I always looked forward to seeing her smiling face each week and learning from the deep faith that she had.
Marilyn always had her prayer concern notebook with her. She diligently wrote down the people she felt a burden for. I know that she prayed daily for anyone on her heart. The one thing that strikes me is that Marilyn always prayed for her children. Each time they had a struggle, were traveling, or even the times that they had something to celebrate she would share it with our group so that we too could be in prayer or could help shout up praises to the awesome God we serve. Even in her absence we will continue to follow the example she was.
I can imagine Marilyn today walking with the God she has believed in. I am so comforted to know that her faith has been revealed. She is no longer walking by faith but she is walking by sight. She is singing praises and has no more tears or pain. I am sure that God has already said to her, "Well done, good and faithful servant". I will miss you Dear Friend...

I remember the unselfish sweet person, that I worked with at children's church. That infectious smile, the sweet spirit. Always asking prayer for someone else. Always concerned about her kids. May God surrond her family with His presence.
