Obituary of J. Weldon Morris

James "Weldon" Morris went home to be with his Savior on April 10, 2011 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Weldon was born in Quapaw, Oklahoma to James Andrew Morris and Josie B. Richardson on April 9. 1924. He graduated from Alta Vista High School in 1942. Weldon married the love of his life Ada Marie McElvain Morris on June 30, 1943 and the couple had three children. Weldon was a farmer/rancher for most of his life. He drove a school bus for Big Sandy School District for a number of years. He retired as a Regional Supervisor from the Colorado Department of Revenue, Port of Entry after 30 years of service. Weldon accepted Christ as his Savior on Easter Sunday, April 22, 1962. He was a Deacon of the First Baptist Churches of Simla, Limon and Sterling, Colorado. He most recently served as Deacon at Ward Road Baptist Church in Arvada, Colorado.Weldon enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and he will be greatly missed. Weldon was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Bob Morris and grandson, Gregory James Hamacher. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ada Marie McElvain Morris; his three children, Linda D. (Frank) McClatchey of Holts Summit, Missouri, Barbara A. (Don) Valaer of Hotchkiss, Colorado and Diane E. (Gary) Hamacher of Falcon, Colorado. Weldon is also survived by his seven grandchildren; Tammy (Lee) Eitel,Terri (Jeff) Garmendia, David McClatchey, Laura Valaer (Brian Graves), Jon (Misty) Valaer, Eric (Trina) Hamacher and Christine (Clayton) Quillin. Additionally he is survived by 10 great grandchildren, one brother Wayne (Nancy) Morris, three sisters; Velma Labertew, Alene (Avner) Karnes and Mildred Wofford, as well as seven nieces and nephews.
