Obituary of Marie Hoskin
Marie Luella Hitchcock Hoskin was born on September 23, 1924, to Gordon A. and Luella Yale Corliss Hitchcock at the family ranch north of Stratton, Colorado. In 1933, the family moved to Burlington. During high school, Marie worked at Standish Drug. Following graduation from Burlington High School in 1943, she worked in wartime USO clubs in California. After returning to Burlington in 1946, she was a bookkeeper at Foster Lumber Company. On July 22, 1951, she married Henry Hoskin. She has two daughters, Pamela and Tamsen.
Marie belonged to P.E.O., Eastern Star, and American Legion Auxilliary. She was a member of the Burlington United Methodist church for 79 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sister and brother-in-law Rose Mae and Hubert Tyrrell, and her brother Merton.
Survivors include her daughters, Pam Baker and her husband Ron Black of McMinnville, Oregon, and Tammy Koop and her husband Gary of Burlington, Colorado; brother and sister-in-law Bert and Delma Hitchcock; sister-in-law Jackie Hitchcock; grandchildren Brian Koop, Lindsay Smith and her husband Rich; Collin Koop, Lynette Stone; Ingrid Robinson; great grandchildren Rielle Smith, Eric Stone, and Melanie Stone; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Marie died quietly on November 6, 2011, at The Legacy, in the presence of family members, Hospice and Legacy staff.
We will be forever grateful for the exceptional cooperation among Caring Hands Hospice, The Legacy, Dr. Wayne Hoppe, Susan Dorman, and the nursing and clerical staff at Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital, which enabled Marie to remain at home at The Legacy during the final days of her life.
Memorials may be given to Caring Hands Hospice or Burlington United Methodist Church, in care of Bank of Burlington.
