Obituary of Vernon Riemenschneider

Vernon “Tobe” John Riemenschneider age 78 of Hall Station, Colorado passed away Friday, December 30, 2011 at his home at Hall Station. He was born July 24, 1933 on the family farm in Thurman, Colorado the son of John F. and Dora (Cole) Riemenschneider. He grew up in Lindon, Colorado and graduated from Lindon High School. On June 28, 1958 in Thurman, Colorado Tobe was united in marriage to Shirley Arline Leach. They shared over fifty-two years of marriage. To this union they shared four children, John Ray, Mark Anthony, Cody Wayne and Verna Annabelle. As most know, Tobe was quite the character. He enjoyed a good laugh and was always keeping his family and friends smiling with his quick wit and his ornery demeanor. However, all that fun and laughter came after a good hard days work. Hard work was something that Tobe took much pride in doing. When he wasn’t working his regular job he was probably tending to his sheep where he was know for his sheep shearing skills. He sheared sheep all over Nebraska, Kansas and Colorado. He sheared sheep right up until his health wouldn’t allow him to continue. He had many jobs and wore many different hats. He worked for the Anton Co-Op, the railroad in Lincoln County, Louis Miller Feed Lot and Arriba Grain Elevator to name just a few. He spent majority of his career working for the Colorado Highway Department for over thirty years where he retired in 1998. He still always continued to work and could always be found tinkering and fixing up things around the house which was really considered his main hobby. He never took many vacations, and if he did, it was to work on some other project that was away from his everyday job. A strong work ethic was always the foundation of Tobe’s existence. Hard work was something he grew up and learned from working alongside his father at an early age on the family farm taking care of the everyday chores. In his spare time he skinned rabbits for his father-in-law and shocked feed for neighbors and friends all over Lincoln County. Vernon will be greatly missed by the love of his life, his wife Shirley and his three sons he loved so much who will continue on his work ethic, his big heart and his sense of humor. Vernon’s grandchildren were his pride and joy and they will continue on his legacy. Tobe’s spirit and love will be expressed in all of his family and friends lives forever… Vernon was survived by his wife, Shirley of the home; three sons, John R.
