Obituary of Betty Shelton

Betty June (Baugh) Shelton, age 88 of Deer Trail, Colorado passed away Monday, January 23, 2012 at her home in Deer Trail, Colorado. Betty was born September 9, 1923 in Denver, Colorado the daughter of Frank Stuart and Lena (Burkhardt) Baugh. She grew up and attended schools in Denver, Colorado until she was sixteen years old. Betty lived in Tennessee, California, Germany and France due to her husband James Shelton’s proud military career. On September 8, 1939 in Littleton, Colorado Betty June Baugh was united in marriage to James Wesley Shelton. They shared over fifty two years of marriage before James passed away on November 12, 1991. To this union they shared two children, Frank Wayne and Lucinda Lee. Betty spent most of her life as a homemaker caring for her husband and her children as well as helping care of her grandchildren. Betty’s family was her pride and joy and her love and care will be missed by her family that she loved so much. Betty also was very proud to have worked at McDonnel Douglas Aircraft Plant in California during WWII. Later she helped support the family by raising and showing German Sheppard’s. Betty was a member of the American Kennel Club, the German Sheppard Dog Club and the Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bennett, Colorado. Betty enjoyed her German Sheppard dogs along with her horses. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, mystery novels and western movies, especially her favorite, the Duke (John Wayne). Most of all, Betty’s passion was caring for her family and her church. Her loving spirit and her warm heart will be expressed in her family and friend’s daily lives forever… Betty is survived by one daughter, Lucinda Lee Boyd (Everett) of Deer Trail, Colorado; one son, Frank Wayne Shelton (Millie) of Peyton, Colorado; five grandchildren, David Boyd (Kendra), Daniel Boyd (Vicky), Delilah Sanderson (Calib), Keith Shelton (Laetitia) and Wade Shelton (Lucy); and ten great grandchildren. Betty is preceded in death by her parents; her husband James; three sisters; and three brothers.
