Obituary of Glen Shepard

Biography Glen was born on April 12, 1921 to Charles P. and Lila (Bryant) Shepard in Cope, Colorado. He was one of three children born to this union. While in the Navy, he served aboard the Natoma Bay CVE62, and as a member of its first crew, he is a plank owner of the aircraft carrier. In 1956, Glen borrowed money to go into the grocery business in Cope, and in 1960 he borrowed money to get out of the business. He met Doris Ilene Anderson and later married her on June 14, 1963 in Sedalia, Colorado. To this union three daughters came into Glen’s life; Denise, Terry, and Glennis. After his marriage to Doris in 1963 he moved to Denver, Glen worked for 18 years for Emery Air Freight. Soon after retirement, they moved to the cabin they built in the mountains near Florissant, Colorado. While living there Glen was active in church and VFW activities. He proudly served as Post 11411 Chaplain for 14 years and as District 8 Chaplain for 6 years. In 2007, Glen and Doris reluctantly left the mountains they loved, and moved closer to their children in Stratton. Glen quietly passed away at his home. Glen is preceded in death by his parents and his wife. He is survived by his daughters; Terry Baylie of Stratton, Denise Spurlin and husband Lonnie of Stratton, Glennis Sigle and husband Gary of Hunter, Kansas, one brother; Richard Shepard and wife Bertha of Sterling, Colorado, one sister; Joyce Elaine Klassen of Yuma, Colorado, sister-in-laws Alveda Reser of Otis, Colorado and Jan Anderson of Denver, Colorado. He is also survived by five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, special friends; Butch and Mary Sprang of Florissant, Colorado, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
