Obituary of Lois Thomas
Lois Lucille (Carter) Thomas passed away on October 5, 2012 at the Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital in Burlington. She was 74 years old.
Lois was born on November 22, 1937 south of Burlington. Her parents were Roy Asa and Viola Gladys (King) Carter. Lois had eight brothers and two sisters; Ivan, Bob, Richard (Red), Leon, Floyd, Francis, Max, Raymond, Emma, and Audrey. Lois attended school in Burlington.
As a kid, she helped her dad, brother Francis and sister Audrey pick up trash with a horse and buckboard. Later on in life, she worked as a waitress and dishwasher at Carpers Café on Main Street in Burlington, CO.
Lois married Kenneth L. Thomas on March 25, 1955, at the 4 Square Church and to this marriage they had four boys, Kenny, Marvin, David and Terry.
Lois liked going out on Friday and Saturday nights partying and dancing. She also loved going to Bingo in Burlington, Kanorado and Stratton, as well as at the fair. She also liked riding around town with dad and going out to have ice cream.
Lois is preceded in death by her son David, her brothers Richard (Red), Leon (Buckey), Floyd, Max and Raymond, and her sisters Emma, and Audrey, and one sister-in-law Elna Gay Carter.
She is survived by her husband Kenneth of Burlington, sons Marvin and his wife Frankie Thomas of Kanorado, Kansas, Kenny Thomas and Kathy Peters of Gillette, Wyoming and Terry and his wife Sharla of Vona, Colorado. She is also survived by five grandchildren; Kent, Nicole, Marvin Jr, Marshall and Cappi and her mother Sherry Thomas, nine great grandchildren; Jade, Chelsa, Rylan, Abbygail, Austin, Christopher, Domonic, Austin and Nicholis. She is also survived by three brothers Ivan and his wife Lois Carter of Fontanac, California, Bob and his wife Dolly Carter of California and Francis Carter of Burlington, Colorado.
