Obituary of Jon Scott

Biography Jon Stephen Scott of Limon, Colorado died on November 7, 2012 after a recent illness and hospitalization. He was 68 years old and leaves behind his friend, and ex-wife, Audrey Scott of Hugo, The Five Scott Children: Julie, Shad, Kristie, Brent, and Nicole, and their families. Julie Weeder and Steve of Sterling, Colorado, Stephanie and Jonathan; Shad Scott of Granite Falls, Washington, Brody and Tristian; Kristie Riemenschneider and Cody of Thornton, Colorado, Venise, Janae, and Cameron; Brent Scott and Cathy of Hugo, Colorado; Nicole Seelhoff and Jesse of Flemming, Colorado and MacKenzie. Of his eight grandchildren, three are adults: Stephanie Weeder and fiancé Trevor Kalous of Steamboat Springs, Colorado; Jonathan Weeder and Bridget of North Platte, Nebraska, Dustin (Jon and Audrey’s only great-grandchild); Venise Riemenschneider of Thornton, CO. Jon moved around a lot during his growing up years and eventually spent a few years in Jamestown, Colorado. He joined the US Army for a short time before returning to Colorado where he married Audrey Hamlin of Boulder. The two moved to Hugo with their three small children in the early 70’s. Their last two children would be born in Hugo as well. He worked for many years as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator. In his free time he was known to spend many hours designing and “building” his signature hand-made knives. Hot rods, guns and black-powder were some of his favorite interests and the every year July 4th was more than a holiday, it was a chance to play with fuses. As his five children grew older, the Fourth of July antics between Jon and his “little” brother Mike began to rise to a whole new level. Luckily they listened to Audrey as she requested, “Jon Scott, don’t you blow up my children!” Today, all five of his children have all fingers and toes and memories of black-powder singes that they tried not to show to their mom. Jon was preceded in death by his infant daughter, mother, younger brother, father, sister, and an infant grandson. He will be missed by many, but his family asks that you share your favorite stories and memories with smiles and laughter.
