Obituary of Kerry Stahlecker
Lifelong Burlington, Colorado resident, Kerry Dale Stahlecker, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Burlington on December 20, 2012. He was 55 years old.
Kerry was born on December 8, 1957 in Burlington, Colorado, to Edgar John and Jeanette Ruth (Smith) Stahlecker. He was one of three children.
Kerry grew up and attended school in Bethune, and graduated from Bethune High School in 1976.
Kerry married Sandra Marie Weis on May 31, 1982 in Bethune, CO. To this union, two children, Dustin and Nicole were born.
Kerry worked at several different places throughout his life. He worked at Richards Irrigation, Dobler Dairy Farm, Cure Feeders, the Kit Carson County Sherriffs office, the Burlington Record and most recently at the Burlington Home Center.
Kerry was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, and served on the Church Board for many years. He was at the church every Sunday he could and took great pride in the history of the church and keeping up the grounds. Kerry also took pride in his yard at his house and farmed it every day of the summer. It always needed to be green and manicured and he was always complimented on how well his yard looked and if you look at it on the Google maps satellite image you can even see mow marks from space! Kerry also enjoyed a good Western every now and then. One of his favorites was The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly and would use phrases from the movies all the time. He enjoyed the history of the Cowboys and could tell you everything that you needed to know about Wyatt Earp and the O.K. Corral. Kerry loved being around people and socializing everywhere he went. He always had friends no matter where he was and enjoyed catching up on everyones lives. At the end he was always willing to help where needed. He helped redo his kitchen.
Kerry was preceded in death by his father Edgar Stahlecker, his mother-in-law Charlotte (Houston) Weis, his paternal grandparents, Edward and Margaret (Weisshaar) Stahlecker, his maternal grandparents Myron and Ruth (Bowan) Smith, brother-in-law John Weis, and a close family friend Kelly Harrison-Westra.
He is survived by his wife Sandra of the home, son Dustin of Burlington, daughter Nicole Hyre and husband Dane of Westminster, and their children Noelle and Dylan, his mother Jeanette Stahlecker of Burlington, sister Deanna Harrison and her husband Bruce of Burlington, and their children Landon and Sterling, and brother James Stahlecker of Omaha, Nebraska. He is also survived by his mother and father-in-law Gerald and Sharon Weis of St. Francis, Kansas, brother-in-law James Weis and his wife Eilean of Griswold, IA, sister-in-law Darlene Framel and her husband David of Bennett, CO, and their children Katrina, Tabithia and Chandelle, sister-in-law Rona Miller and her husband Robert of Chippewa Falls, WI and their son Jonathan, brother-in-law Gerald Weis, Jr. of Colorado Springs, CO and sister-in-law Kristina Gitschlag of Colorado Springs, CO and her children Conner and Alex, as well as many extended family and friends.
