Obituary of Karen Barnes
Biography
Karen Marie Barnes was born on August 24, 1938 to Donavan Hobart and Mildred Naomi Lieurance in Denver Colorado. She was the third of five children. The family moved from Denver to Kiowa to start a dairy farm and was there for many years.
The family moved to Otis in the late 1940s. Karen attended school at the Otis schools. Karen met and married John William Ehrman in 1954. Karen was the mother of eight children, five sons and three daughters. Karen moved to the Matheson area in October 1978. Her children attended school in Simla, Colorado.
Karen earned her living as a waitress and beautician. Karen married Alvin Logan Barnes in March of 1982, and she happily became the step-mother to Alvins five children two sons and three daughters. Karen had many hobbies. She loved to sew and made many things for her children and grandchildren. She loved the farm life and was known to raise goats, chickens and dogs.
Karen is preceded in death by her sons Johnnie, John Albert, brothers Nick and Mike, father Donavan, mother Mildred, and loving husband Alvin Logan Barnes. Karen leaves behind her sons Donavon and wife Sheryl of Greeley, Colorado, Vern of Grand Junction, Colorado, Leif and wife Delana of Matheson, Colorado; Daughters Deborah and husband Chago of Douglas, Wyoming, Tonya and husband Barry of Simla, Colorado, Shauna and husband Dwight of Rapid City, South Dakota. Step Children Michael of Pueblo, Colorado, Jim and wife Geri of Denver, Colorado, Lana and husband Mark of North Platte, Nebraska, Michelle of Sierra Vista, Arizona and Joyce Barnes of North Platte, Nebraska, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, sister Naomi of Washington and brother Stephen and wife Carmen of Taos, New Mexico.
Karen died peacefully in her sleep on March 15, 2013 in Colorado Springs with family by her bedside.
