Obituary of Ellen Eastwood
Ellen Louise Eastwood was born in Snyder, Colorado on April 30, 1937 to Floyd and Helen (Warehime) Wulf and departed this life on August 6, 2013 at the Lincoln Community Hospice in Hugo, Colorado.
Ellen grew up on a dairy farm outside of Ft. Morgan along with her brothers, Charles and Albert, and sister, Genese. In addition to dairy cows, the family also raised pigs, rabbits and chickens to support them and everyone was kept busy with the chores that come with the rural life.
On August 1, 1953, Ellen married Francis (Babe) Earl Eastwood. The couple moved to both Texas and Kentucky during Francis enlistment in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955, then settled in western Nebraska where Francis farmed and ranched. Their family grew to include four children: Dennis Earl, Sheri Lynn, Danny Lee and Robert Dene. In 1963, they moved to Colorado to start a well drilling business with Francis brother Don. Truly a family business, their children all got introduced to hard work as they were growing up, and Eastwood Drilling is still owned/operated by Dan, Robert and Sheri.
Ellen is proceeded in death by her parents, her husband, son Dennis, brothers Albert and Charlie, and sister Genese. A gathering for family and friends was hosted by the Elks Lodge #2307 of Deer Trail at the Limon Community Building following burial services.
Ellen is survived by: her daughter-in-law, Susan Eastwood, of Springfield, VA; sons Dan (LeEllen) and Robert, and daughter Sheri (Butch) Lorensen all of Limon; grandchildren Andrew (Autumn) Lorensen of Limon; David (Miranda) Eastwood of Safford, AZ; Jonathan (Jessica) Eastwood of Denver and Jack Eastwood of Limon; great-grandchildren Donovan Eastwood of Safford, AZ; Candice and Calvin Eastwood of Denver; brother-in-laws Don (Linda) Eastwood of Deer Trail and Willie (Mary Pat) Eastwood of Greeley; sister-in-law Millie (Russell) Leach of Ogallala; as well as a host of nephews and nieces throughout Colorado and Nebraska.
Raising her family and tending to their growing business occupied most of Ellens young adult life. She also helped support the family by working outside the home at local restaurants and motels. As the children got older, they remained a central part of her life and she felt blessed to have them close and involved with the family business. Growing up on the farm, Ellen developed a love for animals that followed her through life. She could never turn away a stray, and she usually had quite a congregation of cats who found quickly they would be well fed and cared for if they stuck around the Eastwood home.
