Memories - September 19, 2013
Posted: September 19, 2013 | Last Revised: September 19, 2013
I am the oldest of six children and my dad , Glen Harvie, was very special to me. Guess you could say I was a "daddy's" girl, at least that's what I thought. My Dad was always their, strong and steady, but quiet and slow to anger. I remember only a few times that his anger showed, and I am so thankful for his strong guiding presence. My dad was my hero, and as a child I thought he was the next best thing to "Matt Dillon" on Gunsmoke. We watched that show every Saturday night and it was one of Dad's favorites until he left us last week. Dad was an avid hunter and one of our favorite outings was duck hunting with he and Uncle Jay. We would drive an old car to the pond in the pasture, park a ways away, and quietly approach the dam side of the pond. It was not unusual for Dad and Uncle Jay to clear the pond of any ducks, that is if we kids were quiet enough not to scare them off as we approached. Oh, and for lunch we would have a can of sardines and maybe a can of peaches. These are just a few memories and their are many more, but mostly I want everyone who reads this to know how proud I am to be Glen's daughter. I only hope that my children will someday be able to share the memories that I have of him with their children. Yes, I am still a "daddy's girl"! and I will never forget the love and support my father gave to all me and the rest of my brothers and my sister.
Love you, Dad! May you rest and peace.

Pat and family,
We were so sorry to hear of Glen's passing. Our parents, Millard & Virginia Sparks, were such good friends, playing cards, pot luck dinners and sharing life's joys and sorrows.
Our whole family has always thought so much of Glen & Pat.
May your family find comfort in the good memories and joy in the knowledge that you will be united once again in heaven.
Peace be with each of you.
Rick and Cheryl (Sparks) Schulte
