Obituary of Charles "Bud" Boyles
Longtime Burlington, Colorado resident Charles Coad (Bud) Boyles passed away January 30, 2014 in Denver Colorado. He was born to Joseph Andrew and Vera Coad Boyles on January 19, 1921 in Kearney, Nebraska. As an infant they moved to Burlington. He graduated from Burlington High School in 1939. Bud was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church, being baptized and joining the church on June 9, 1946.
Bud worked at W-B Drug in Burlington before enlisting in the US Navy in World War II serving 3 years, over 2 of which were in the South Pacific. He was honorably discharged in June 1945. He was always proud of his service for our country. One week after returning home from overseas, he and Alice Pischke were united in marriage on July 1, 1945 in Burlington. To this union, one son, David Charles was born on October 17, 1950.
After the war Bud was employed at the W-B Liquor store for several years before becoming the sole owner of it. In 1965 Bud went across the street to be employed at the Bank of Burlington. He attended the Colorado School of Banking at the University of Colorado and graduated in August 1971. Bud retired from the Bank in 1986.
He loved playing bridge and sports of all kinds, mainly golf and bowling. His Burlington bowling team won the Colorado State Bowing Tournament one year. He enjoyed traveling and visited all 50 states, Alaska, Europe, Canada and Mexico. He and Alice volunteered at the Colorado Welcome Center for a number of years. They enjoyed vacationing in Mesa Arizona and after retirement spent more time there with relatives and friends.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Jack, sister Nintha Mae, sister Esther and nieces an nephews. He leaves to mourn, his loving wife, son David and wife Ginny of Denver and Tucson, grandsons Matthew and wife Xavier of Denver, Joshua and wife Diana of Genesse Colorado, Travis of Boulder and 2 great grandsons, Connor and Evan.
