Obituary of Norman Hobson

Lucien “Norman” Hobson, 86, formerly of Hugo, Colorado passed away on March 8, 2014 at Sunset Manor in Brush, Colorado. Norman, as he was known, was born in Sugar City, Colorado, December 6, 1927 to Lucien M. and Lilllie May (Debo) Hobson one of eight children. He grew up on a ranch between Sugar City and Karval, Colorado graduating from Hugo High School in 1951. Norman married Margie Petersen in Fort Hood, Texas while Norman was in the military. They were blessed with two sons; Jerry and Terry. Margie and Norman were divorced in 1971. Norman married Thelma L. Webb in Hugo, Colorado in 1973. Norman was a cowboy and enjoyed every aspect of the country life. He was the foreman for a 3000 head 30,000 acre ranch so he got to do everyday what he loved. The other love of his life was his children and grandchildren he enjoyed everyone coming over for some great barbeque. Norman also grew a garden enjoying the fresh vegetables that he raised. He loved to watch the Rockies. Norman was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers; Thurman, Eldon and Noel, and one sister Velma Emmerling. He was also preceded by one granddaughter, Summer Honey and great grandchild Vann Hobson. Norman was survived by his wife Thelma Hobson of Hugo, Colorado and sons; Terry Hobson of Flagler, Colorado and Jerry Hobson of Limon, Colorado. He is also survived by sisters; Vaneta Hopkins and Viola DeMoss of Ordway, Colorado and eight grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. A Memorial Service for Norman was held on Thursday, March 13, 2014, 1:00 P.M. at the Hugo United Methodist Church in Hugo, Colorado. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association 4567 East 9th Avenue, Denver, Colorado 80220.
