Obituary of Lynn Fisher
Lynn Marlin Fisher age 77 of Genoa, Colorado earned his wings on Saturday, July 2, 2016 in Denver, Colorado. He was born June 4, 1939 in Scott City, Kansas, the son of Forrest “Bud” Lynn and Gertrude “Charlie” May (Preedy) Fisher. He attended and graduated from Genoa High School in 1958 and continued his education at Colorado State University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science in 1962. Lynn married Iris Yvonne Hargrove on January 2, 1960 at the E.U.B. Church in Seibert, Colorado. They shared over fifty six years of marriage and to this union they were blessed to have raised three daughters Lynette Kay, Mindy Sue and Trudy Leigh whom they loved and cared for deeply and whose lives were enriched from the values that were instilled in them on a daily basis.
Lynn’s true passion was being a lifelong rancher and farmer where his heart was always with the land which provided for his family and community. Lynn was a conservationist and for the respect he had for the land and the environment he was awarded the Private Range Livestockman of the Year Award in 1997. Lynn was very active in the community where he was a thirty-three year member of Eastern Slope Telephone board, a member of the Genoa School Board, the Genoa Lions Club, the United Methodist Church of Genoa, Lincoln County Stockmen's, the American Salers Association, and a leader of the Mile Hi 4-H Club.
In his younger years Lynn enjoyed playing baseball and always enjoyed attending his children and grandchildren’s sporting events. He enjoyed attending the National Finals Rodeo and also took great pride in perfecting the genetics of his herd. He also believed that ranching and farming is what nurtured the close family ties and made life rich in ways money couldn’t buy. Additionally, he believed honest hard work and perseverance are the building blocks of a person’s character which he exemplified. Most of all, Lynn was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and neighbor. His knowledge about how to live life and deal with hardship will be remembered by all and his spirit will continue living through his family and friends forever…
He is survived by his loving wife, Iris of the home; his three daughters, Lynette Kay Stone (Dave) of Limon, Colorado, Mindy Sue Owens of Wichita, Kansas, Trudy Leigh O’Dwyer (Mike) of Limon, Colorado; two sisters, Joselyn Dixon (Dick) of Sterling, Colorado and Chris Ann Herigstad (Rawlin) of Torrington, Wyoming; seven grandchildren, Shane Stone (Susan), Tristan Stone (Stacey), Daniel Stone, Allie Langlois (Mackenzie), Macy Owens, Nicole O’Dwyer and Ashley Roth (Blake); and two great grandsons, Jackson Stone and Harrison Stone.
Lynn was preceded in death by his parents Bud and Charlie Fisher.
