Obituary of William "Bill" Taussig

William Reed Taussig, 89, of Limon, Colorado, formerly of Parshall, Colorado, went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 16, 2014. Bill was born on February 10, 1925 in Denver, Colorado to Willard S. and Clara M. (Kraxberger) Taussig, one of seven children. He grew up on the Ute Park Ranch in the Williams Fork River Valley near Parshall, Colorado. He attended Columbine School, a one room school house, and graduated from Kremmling Union High School in 1942. After high school graduation Bill attended Wheaton College for a year, then after World War II, went to the Denver Bible Institute. Bill served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II from March 24, 1944 to April 3, 1946. He participated in the invasion of Iwo Jima where he was wounded. He humbly served his country and never took his freedom for granted. It was during this time that he confronted this question: “Taussig, are you absolutely certain that if you get killed you will go to heaven to be with Jesus?” The Holy Spirit led him to Matthew 10:28 and he was overwhelmed with peace and comfort, confirming his assurance of salvation. He knew if his body was killed in battle he would be immediately in heaven. Bill married Virginia D. Miller on February 4, 1949 in Denver, Colorado, and the couple was blessed with five children. They loved ranching and raising their family in the mountains where God’s creation was very visible. Bill was also a lay minister at the Parshall Chapel and performed many weddings and funerals in the Parshall and Kremmling areas. He enjoyed hiking and camping, loved to sing, was an avid student of the Bible, and loved reading in general. Bill loved God’s creation from big to small. He enjoyed watching birds and slowing down to literally smell the roses. Bill enjoyed the spring rains, playing in the snow, the birth of new baby calves, and working cattle. He loved his wife of 65 years and their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren dearly. Bill praised his Creator daily, believing that all things are a gift from God. Bill was preceded in death by his father and mother; sister, Marge McElroy; brother, Don Taussig; brother-in-law Ken McElroy; and sisters-in-law: Lois Taussig and Faith Taussig. He is survived by his wife, Virginia and their children: Jan (Jim) Polzin of Las Vegas, Nevada; Reed (Kathy) Taussig of Littleton, Colorado; David (Kim) Taussig of Limon, Colorado; Nancy (Larry) Mitchell of Las Animas, Colorado; and Kim (Steve) Fahrenkrog of Cottonwood Heights, Utah.
