Donnie Sherer " A man with a heart of gold" says it all. You have to admire a man who loved his wife and kids to no end. A mentor to some, a employer to men supporting their families and a true friend to many. A community stalwart who was a successful businessman who said "Pay me when you can," Our own George Bailey. I will miss that grin and that twinkle in his eyes. Rest in peace my friend.

Eulogy
Don was born in 1962, but the real adventure began in 1986, when he met the love of his life. Don met Patty through his volunteer service at Bennett Fire and Rescue, where Patty also volunteered. Don was a very persistent man, and a lil crazy. Patty was a single mom, with four rambunctious children. Don was not scared, and pursued his dream woman. He fell in love with Patty and her four kids. Don ended up asking Patty three different times for her hand in marriage. Thank goodness he was persistent, the third proposal she said yes, and the adventure began.
Don was an amazing dad to his first set of kids, but his life was complete with his two sons, micheal Donald and Matthew Brady Sherer when they were born. Don was the proudest most loving father! Don raised and loved all 6 children! He was there for all of them, and worked 24/7 to provide for his family. Don was and is our hero. The first set of kids are so thankful for dads persistence with mom. Matthew and Michael can not find the words to express their love and gratitude for being a role model, teacher, counselor, friend, and most of all father. His children are so blessed to have been raised and loved by such a wonderful man.
Dons grandkids were another source of joy. He loved them and spoiled all of them, anytime he could. He was so proud of his nurse, his f15 mechanic, football players, horse riders, softball players, video game playing crew. Any picture, news, phone calls, or visits brought him joy! All of his grandkids were loved and cherished.
He cherished his friends, and treated them like gold.
Randy Taylor one of his close friends shared
Donny and I were life long friends. He was always someone you could count on to be there no matter what. He was kind and caring. From early on working at the station, to his time with the Fire Department and beyond. He was always helping others in some way. One could not ask for a better friend.
Don served his community for the past 42 years. He started working at his family business at a very young age. He started serving the Bennett fired department at the age of 18, the age requirement to serve was 21, but that didn’t stop Don.
Some of the community comments that show who Don was to so many.
*would do anything for you
*what a truly great person
*our community will miss Don and his giving nature.
*donny was a great person
*Great, Great man
*If Fred liked him, he had to be one of the good ones.
*He will be missed by all who knew him
*what a loss for the community
*he would do anything for you
*Sorry to see a great friend go so young
*sorry for your loss, he was a great man
*what a good man
*He was always willing to help with nothing expected in return
*Donny had a heart of gold, and was one of my favorite people.
*Always looking out for lovers and his love was unconditional
*biggest heart you could imagine
*a man with a golden heart
*I don’t ever think I saw your dad without a smile(smirk)
*Your dad was always so kind and giving to me and those I love. He was a great example of what a good man is suppose to be.
I could share all day the comments and sentiments that have been shared about Don, but if you knew him, there is no need to continue. You know that we have lost an amazing man, with a heart of gold.
Don was his moms rose, his dads pride. He was the glue to his family. He lived a remarkable life, and loved beyond measure. What brings peace to his family, is knowing he is in heaven. We know he is dancing in the sky, and singing with the angels!
Donald Francis Sherer a man with a heart of gold!

We will always hold fond memories of Donnie. A school mate, a friend, a hero, a rescuer...he was it all. He could be quick with a story, if you let him, but he always had a listening ear. He never said no when we needed help and several times went out of his way to offer that help.
Bless you Donnie, you made an impact on our lives.

Donald, you'll be greatly missed. You were a huge part of my life, and I'll always remember you as a "second dad". You were always willing to help, but never afraid to let me know when I was messing up.
Love you
