Obituary of Mark A. Warriner

Mark Warriner was born on April 20, 1962 to Lawrence and Jean Warriner, in Denver, Colorado. Mark was raised in Lakewood, Colorado where he graduated high school. After high school, Mark enlisted in the United States Navy serving in Desert Storm. Mark married his love, Jennifer, and to this union their son, Matthew was born. The family moved back to Lakewood, Colorado where Mark began fulfilling his lifelong dream of becoming a firefighter/paramedic for West Metro Fire Department. Mark's career spanned from September 13, 1994 until his retirement on October 27, 2016. During his tenure as a firefighter, Mark found a passion in honoring fellow firefighters lost during the call of duty. Mark helped to organize a nationwide ride honoring fallen firefighters lost during the September 11, 2001 attacks. Additionally, he organized "The Ride to Remember" an annual event for motorcycle riders and participants that originated in Lakewood, Colorado, and culminated at the Fallen Firefighter Memorial in Colorado Springs. Mark had many successes in life, but he always strove for more. As if his career wasn't enough to keep him busy, Mark also worked as an instructor for the Saint Anthony's Paramedic Program and as a medic for Stadium Medical. Mark loved working a variety of venues, including being on the sidelines for the Denver Broncos - and his favorite sports team - the Colorado Avalanche. Mark was the consummate handyman with skills varying from construction, to auto mechanics and everything in between. He also found a hobby in Ham radio operation, making a long list of friends with others that shared his passion. Mark was diagnosed with ALS in 2021, fighting a brave battle until his peaceful passing on June 11, 2022. Mark is preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack and Eleanor Warriner. Mark is survived by his son; Matthew Warriner, his parents; Larry and Jean Warriner, sisters; Lyn (Kevin) Wolfe and Holly (Skip) Shirlaw. He is also survived by two nieces; Krystal Wolfe (Dylan Stracker) and Rachel Shirlaw, and nephew; Zach (Alex) Wolfe, a great nephew, Henry Dilka and his longtime love and friend, Jennifer Warriner. Mark is also survived by the unique brother and sisterhood of fellow firefighters and medics that understand the passion and sacrifices made to the profession. Know that his greatest honor was working with each of you and he loved you all. A special thanks to his family "Wind & Fire".
