I remember Alden coming to Larry’s house complaining that he couldn’t find a good ranch hand. After a lot of convincing, Larry talked him into hiring me. I loved working on the ranch and all the work. I had so much fun working cattle, mending fences, riding the 8 sections for calves, stacking hay, working the horses, castrating cats in PVC pipe (WTH), making bailing twine halters, watching him pull calves, watching Shyle butcher her bunnies for our dinner, watching all three girls work their butts off without any fear, moving cattle with Brenda and other folks, getting to know Keith and his lovely wife, breaking ice endlessly, eating lunch with John and Irene (Love), helping prepare for the fair, my favorite branding day, and so much more!! I learned so much from Alden about ranch work, huge cute brown kitties in the grain silo are actually deadly mountain lions, how to recycle any object, and believing I can do anything with just a little instruction and self-confidence. I grew up there from a dumb kid to a young adult. Nalla was always so nice and kind to me. With the help of Alden and Bud Bell, I learned to not let a crazy horse or mean people walk all over me. I want to thank the entire Monnahan family for letting me share a small glimpse into their lives of working hard everyday and having a good strong work ethic!
God Bless You Alden and family!!
