I have many fond memories of Betty Jean from the time we were very young and our parents would get together for coffee and cake to the present. Betty, my sister Delores and I would play school almost every time we got together. Betty's sister Diane was too young to play with us. Not surprising that Betty became a school teacher. (Although Delores was always the teacher, three years older than Betty).
I was a year older than Betty so we weren't in the same grade in school but we both spent 12 years of our lives in the Deer Trail School. She was always so sweet and had a smile for everyone.
Betty, my mom, sister Delores and I belonged to the American Legion and when my Mom went into Memory Care in Wheatridge in 2015, Betty made sure the Legion bought mom a Poinsettia every year. Then we would start trying to figure out a time to meet up to get it for Mom. It always worked out and my mom appreciated her thoughtfulness so much. Just showed how kind she was to go above and beyond.
It broke my heart at such a loss to lose Betty so young. I couldn't understand why my prayers hadn't worked but then I realized God needed her to come home. Keith and I are so very sorry for your loss and just know our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
With Love,
Keith and Betty Greenwood

Betty Jean was so special and such a caring person. She was always there to give a helping hand. I have fond memories of playing school when we were little with her and her sister, Diane and my sister, Betty. We pray for Chuck and her family to have peace and comfort in all the wonderful memories, and that she is in a beautiful place now. Our love, Delores & John Pastirchak

Betty always had a smile on her face. She had a great sense of humor. She would usually say something funny to me when she stopped by the Rincon Garden Railway. Often she stopped by while Chuck was fixing something on the railway or came by to maybe remind him to come home. Chuck was often so dedicated to the railway that he might be late for a meal or two.
We will all miss Betty.

I just watched the incredibly beautiful movie tribute to Betty here on the site.
It is unforgettable. Overflowing with faith. Filled with Chuck's love for her.
I didn't know Betty well, but I feel as if I have just been given her life. I am blessed by her life. I am blessed by seeing how much joy she gave to Chuck, to her children, and to her grandchildren.
I am amazed and inspired by Betty. I do not think I have ever seen a woman so faith filled.
Betty's Christian life had such power that it gave life to all around her!
And she continues to do that even now.
Her love will never die.

Betty will be missed by family and friends. She was a special friend who provided ongoing support always ready to help others or to just be there to listen.
Ric & I met Chuck and Betty at Rincon Country West RV Park several years ago. We became close friends spending time together over the winter. We liked to relax and just talk about anything. We shared a common interest in the Garden Railroad. In the last few years Betty & I had fun running our trains together on the same track during the Ladies’ Runs.
Shopping adventures with Betty included visiting local stores, markets and usually a trip to Tubac to check out the quilting, pottery and kitchen accessory shops. Of course lunch out was part of the treat.
Betty encouraged Chuck to take an interest in photography, so we visited the Desert Museum together and took pictures of the cacti, animals and raptors in flight.
She was a very good quilter and sewed beautiful things. A couple years ago, Betty gave us a beautiful table runner designed with green branches, pine cones and snowflakes. It covers the table in our breakfast nook. So, we are reminded of Betty, our friend, each day at breakfast and lunch.
We looked forward to Sundays going to our local church services with Chuck and Betty. Then, we joined some of our friends for lunch.
We will always remember and thank the Lord that on the day before we left Rincon for home March 2020, that we had the opportunity to watch a church service together on the TV and pray together followed with a special breakfast out.
Betty shows us how short and precious our lives are on Earth. Now she is with Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour and surrounded by the love of God our father in Heaven.
