Obituary of Nicholas D. Fahey
Nicholas David Fahey
Nicholas David “Nick” Fahey, age 41, passed away in his home Sunday morning, October 25, 2020. Nicholas was born on June 20, 1979 in Topeka, Kansas, he is survived by his parents David J. and Diane E. (Flynn) Fahey. He is also survived by grandparents John Joseph “Jack” Flynn Jr, Parsons Ks, and Shirley P. Fahey, Strasburg, CO. Nick is survived by two siblings, Travis W. (Linda) Gentry, CO, and Christina Fahey, Strasburg, CO. Nicholas has three nephews and one niece, Alec W. Gentry, Noah R. Gentry, Jackson J. Schultz & Penelope Rose Fahey. He is also survived by his best friend & companion, Traci Wiehl and many aunts, uncles & cousins. He is proceeded in death by his grandparents David C. Fahey, Therese A. Flynn and Joann Kramer and his Aunt Susan “Flynn” Keller.
In 1981 Nicholas moved to Colorado with his mom, dad and older brother Travis. He attended Byers Elementary school until 1988 when the family moved to Strasburg, where they still reside. He attended Strasburg Schools from 3rd-12th grade, graduating in 1998 from Strasburg High School.
Nick loved the oilfield, he would say it’s “in his blood”, and it was. Nick spent a lot of years after high school working for the family business, D&D Water Service, where he made life time friends. Two of which are pallbearers, Tom Murrow and Leif Anderson. When his parents sold the family business in 2005, Nick moved to Oklahoma where he lived for several years, which is also where he met one of his closest friend’s Luke Barnes (pallbearer). Eventually Nick moved back to Colorado where he continued to work in the oil industry for many years. Nick also ran a scraper, but he was always happiest when he was driving a truck.
Nicholas was a giant teddy bear, anyone who knew him knows exactly what that means. His heart was made of gold and he would literally give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He was known to surprise those he loved with presents, coffee and other random acts of kindness. Nicholas will be missed more than he could have ever imagined. We are not sure how we will go on without his amazing sense of humor, beautiful green eyes & long lashes and genuine love, but we have put all our trust in the Lord and are taking things one day at time. We humbly ask that you pray for the repose of his soul and for his surviving family who will be faced with much sadness and uncertainty in the coming months. Thank you for loving Nicholas, may God bless and keep you always.
