Obituary of Vencil T. Welp Sr.

Vencil T. Welp, Sr. (80) of Strasburg, CO passed away suddenly on August 30, 2020. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bennett, CO at 11 a.m. Final resting will be at the Mt. View Cemetery, Bennett, CO. Vencil was born on August 17, 1940 in Wray, Colorado to Wilbert and Elizabeth Welp. Vencil attended a one room schoolhouse through the 8th grade. He was a member of the Class of 1959, and the last class to graduate from Vernon High School. Vencil was a graduate of The Parks School of Business. After a whirlwind courtship, Vencil married the love of his life Shirley Anne Hanlon on December 27, 1961. Unto this union five girls and FINALLY a son were born: Clela Renee, Dalleen Linnet, Karla Anne, LaVell Eron, Jilonne Holly, and Vencil T. Jr. Vencil worked for Frederick’s Fabric while attending business school. He worked for Deister, Ward & Witcher, Inc., a title abstracting service covering 23 states. In later years, he made junior partner and completed a career of 31 years with DWW. Upon retirement he framed houses with his close friend, Jerry Meier. Vencil and Shirley moved the four girls to the family farm in December 1977. Their lives revolved around raising livestock, crops, kids, and family dinners. A man of few words but was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren. A favorite of his was homemade ice cream and sharing root beer floats with his grandkids. A man of faith who valued hard work, loyalty, and honesty. Dedicating many years to his church families and devoted countless hours to the Comanche Crossing Historical Society. Survived by his wife of 58 years Shirley, daughters Clela (Chuck) Eggebrecht, Dalleen Welp, Karla Stratton, LaVell (Andy) Winsor, Jilonne (Brad) Schaffer, and son Vencil Jr. (Pattie) Welp. Grandchildren: Jacob Flower, Kade Welp, Robert Stratton, Alyssa Schaffer, MaKayla Stratton, Brayden Winsor, Briley Schaffer, Olivia Stratton,and Vencil Henry Welp, and Axl Welp. Brother Dennis (Sharon) Welp, and sister Estalene (Glenn) Wudtke, sisters-in-law Linda Welp, Audrey Campfield, Donna (Gene) Boyd, and Donna Hanlon, numerous step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Vencil was proceeded in death by granddaughter, Kyla Flower, son-in-law Oren Stratton, parents Wilbert and Elizabeth Welp, and brother Mervin Welp. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Vencil T. Welp Memorial Fund to be distributed to Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and the Comanche Crossing Historical Society. Memoiral contributions can be mailed to: Vencil T.
