Obituary of Mary Simon
Mary Lynne (Miley) Simon was born in Jackson, Mississippi on September 4, 1932 to Houston George Miley and Mary Elizabeth (Bess Hays) Miley. She left us heading for heaven peacefully in her sleep March 23, 2015.
Mary met the love of her life, Doug, at the age of 14 in 1946 in San Angelo, Texas. Mary graduated from Limon High School in 1950.
Mary and Doug were married in January 1951 in Denver while he was competing at the National Western Stock Show where he won the bulldogging. From there, they traveled across the lower forty-eight states and Canada while living in an 8 wide travel trailer. Out of this union came four children: Todd (Jolene) Simon of Brush, Colorado, Debbie (Bill) Lowry of Abilene, Texas, Mike Simon of Brush, Colorado and Mick (Ramona) Simon of Italy, Texas.
When the children were school age, Mary and Doug decided to settle down a bit and lived in Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico and Texas.
Mary decided early on that she and the children would be in church wherever they happened to be on Sunday.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, sisters and loving husband. She is survived by her four children, 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and many life-long friends.
Mary loved being a wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed taking pictures, sewing, knitting and crocheting for the family and her many years traveling while rodeoing and participating in craft shows. Mary took up quilting while living in Texas. She made everyone a unique to them quilt and provided new baby quilts when needed.
Mary will be missed by her family, many nieces and nephews, as well as friends across the country and her church family.
