Douglas Dean Propp, 59, of Strasburg, CO was born on January 20, 1959 to Robert and Arlene Propp of Ft. Collins, CO.  He passed away peacefully at home on September 23, 2018.

As a child, Doug liked to help his dad work on cars.  His parents knew then that he was going to be a car man.  He also liked to hang out at his uncle’s farm and spend time with other family members playing cards and having dinners.  Doug grew up in the Lutheran Church and was very educated in it.

In Junior High School, he learned to play the drums by ear listening and has been playing ever since.  In High School, he restored his first car—a Cougar.

After graduating from Ft. Collins High School, he went to work in a restaurant as a cook.  He liked to work.  Mechanical School was next for him and after graduating from there, he went to work for a construction company.  He was later hired by West Gas Natural Gas Company and learned about the mechanics of natural gas engines and pipe lines.  He finished his working career at Excel Gas Company.

Doug married Rhonda and moved to Strasburg with their family in 1978.  They raised their children, Rachel, Richard and later on Krystal in Strasburg. He and Rhonda taught their kids work ethics, showed them love and guided them to never give up and to keep going in the right direction.

Doug had several hobbies and interests.  He enjoyed car restoration and riding motorcycles.  He was always making or fixing something; he was a self-taught carpenter and liked working with his hands.  Doug was a Broncos fan and liked watching their games.  He joined the Strasburg Fire Department and served on it for 25 years.  He wanted to be of help and give back to his community.  He was a busy man and liked being busy.  He loved his family and pets.  He had a wisdom with words and visited with people often.   Doug dealt with anything with a positive attitude.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Propp and his daughter, Krystal.   He is survived by his wife, Rhonda, daughter Rachel (Dan), son Richard (Jennifer) and seven grandchildren.  Also survived by his mother, Arlene Propp and sister, Denise Barnes.

Doug had a relationship with the Lord and knew that God was his main helper.
