Obituary of Hazel Barbara Card

Hazel B. Card of Strasburg, Colorado passed away August 20, 2018.

Hazel was born on June 16, 1938, north of Siebert, Colorado to Joseph and Syble Burian.  Hazel was one of five children, her sisters Irene, Joan, Dianne, and her brother Tom. 

She attended school in Vona, Colorado until graduating in 1956.  Then she went on to nursing school in Colorado Springs while working at Memorial Hospital.  On June 3, 1961, Hazel was married to Stephen Card.  They started a life together in Denver, Colorado and were blessed with two children: Mike and Kyra.  In 1971, they moved to Strasburg, Colorado to raise their family. 

While raising a family, Hazel worked as a Register Nurse at Saint Anthony, National Jewish, and Fitzsimons Army Hospitals.  She also worked as a private nurse and OEA aerospace company. 

Hazel is survived by her husband Stephen, her brother Tom (Nadine) Burian, children Mike (Susan) Card, Kyra (Darrel) Ellis, grandchildren Katie (Chris) Hale, Michael Card, John Card, Linnea Brainerd, Nick Card, Kalesha Ellis, and Hailey Ellis.  Her step grandchildren Garett Ellis, Morgan Ellis, Bethany Ellis, and Wyatt Ellis; great grandchild Stephen Corey Hale.  Hazel is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Syble, as well as her sisters Irene, Dianne, and Joan. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in care of the Vona Cemetery District at P.O. Box 37 in Vona, Colorado 80861. 

A graveside service will be held Friday, August 24, 2018, in the Vona Cemetery at 10:00a.m. in Vona, Colorado.
