Obituary of Ladeen Mills

M. Ladeen Mills, age 83 of Stratton, Colorado passed away May 10, 2017 at the Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital in Burlington, Colorado. Ladeen was born July 22, 1933 on the farm south of Stratton to parents Arthur M. and Thelma A. (Neilson) Lowe. She was the fifth of seven children born to this union. Ladeen graduated from Burlington High School in 1950 and furthered her education at Colorado A&M in Ft. Collins. She married Charles Mills on her parents’ farm south of Stratton on September 15, 1951. The couple was blessed with three children. Ladeen was a member of the Worthwhile Home Demonstration Club of Vona, Colorado as well as the Stratton United Methodist Church. Ladeen’s grandsons: Andy (Jobeth); Brad (Lindsey); Tony (Jessica); Kyle (Camille) and Geoffrey along with her grandchildren; Aubry, Brielle, Paislee, Trey, Emma and Jaxon were her pride and joy. When one of the grandchildren walked in the room her eyes would light up. You could always tell when the grandkids from Montana called. She would talk for days about the call. She lived her life for her family and instilled many qualities through her love and faith. Her family reunion at Mt. Princeton was a highlight of the summer. She was so proud of her family and loved to talk about the grandkids and great grandkids. Her love of animals was evident from the years they ran the dairy to setting on the porch swing watching the birds at the bird bath. She was an avid gardener which you could see by her many flower beds. Ladeen is survived by her husband Charles Mills of Stratton; two sons, Danny and wife Louise of Stratton and Dale and wife Mona of Volberg, Montana, one daughter Charleen and husband Loran of Vona, and sister Judy Johnson and husband Wade of Grand Junction, Colorado. Also surviving her are her five grandsons; Andy, Brad, Tony, Kyle and Geoffrey; six great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
