Obituary of David G. Nicklos
David George Nicklos was born on June 12, 1954. He spent his childhood in Las Animas, Colorado, with his happiest times being on his grandparents’ farm. He loved farming, ranching, hunting, and shooting. After many jobs, he found the perfect one as a Wildlife Tech on the South Republican State Wildlife Area. For 20 years, he roamed the area maintaining and improving habitat while protecting and managing the area wildlife species. He enjoyed visiting with sportsmen who utilized the area and become a valuable resource and a great friend to people from all over the state and country. An even bigger source of pride and joy were his children Amy and Ross. He loved them unconditionally and with his whole heart. Dave was a special man who battled a unique and rare condition. Dave will be missed by his wife Mary, children Amy (Ryan), Ross, family, and by the many people whose lives he touched.
Dave’s wish was to be cremated and no services to be held. The family would like to thank everyone for the love, support, and prayers extended on theirs and Dave’s behalf. A special thank you to Dave’s family in the Division of Parks and Wildlife. The family requests no flowers. If you feel moved to contribute, please consider Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, National Wild Turkey Federation, Pheasants Forever, or Safari Club International.
