Obituary of Duane Stanley Mohan
Duane Stanley Mohan was born on May 28, 1937 in Hugo, Colorado to Lawrence and Beulah (Olsen) Mohan. Duane was one of seven children. Duane Mohan passed peacefully on April 16, 2017 at the age of 79. Duane spent most of his life in the small town of Hugo and made a name for himself and his family there.
Growing up in a small town in rural America, he helped on the farm. Playing basketball was a passion of his throughout school, finally graduating from Hugo school in 1957. Duane moved to Hartsel, Colorado in the early 1960's but all roads led him back to his roots in Hugo.Throughout the years, Duane had many jobs from working for Lincoln County Road and Bridge, to maintenance at Lincoln Community Hospital. He even filled in as a Deputy in Hugo from time to time. Duane started working on the construction crew for Eastern Slope Rural Telephone in 1972 where he eventually retired in 1999.
Duane was a loving father to 10 children, grandfather to 27 grandchildren, great-grandfather to 18 great-grandchildren, an amazing uncle and an honorable brother. His triumph in life wasn't measured in material things but rather the unconditional love that he gave to his family. Duane was a friend and an influence to many people in his small town out on the plains.
Duane was preceded by his parents Lawrence and Beulah Mohan, his brothers James and Larry, and his sister Barbara (Mohan) Willey.Duane is survived by his brother, Joseph Mohan (MaryAnn), his two sisters Margaret “Peggy” Bandy and Coleen Newman his children; Darrell Mohan, David Mohan (Trisha), John Mohan (Jodi), Daniel Mohan (Gina), Mathew Mohan (Tawnia), Lucas Koch (Renae), Deanna Crider (Robert) ,Kathy Mohan-Clifton, Connie Austin (Mike), and Jennifer Carpenter (Kyle), 27 grandchildren,18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Duane Mohan will remain forever in our hearts as a father, friend, and brother.
