Obituary of Clara Boyle

Clara Lucille Bailey was born on April Fool’s Day, April 1, 1912 in Miles, Texas to Bob and Pearl Bailey. She was the second of seven children. She was raised in Miles and San Angelo, Texas. She graduated from high school in San Angelo, TX. She then attended the San Angelo School of Beauty Culture. After graduation, she was a beauty operator and worked in her own shop and traveled around the Texas Panhandle doing hair and giving permanents. She has been a Christian all of her life and was baptized at the age of 8 in the Concho River with her father and two siblings. She was a life-long Baptist and truly enjoyed going to church and Bible Study and church dinners and breakfasts. She helped with Vacation Bible School for over 20 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Limon for 44 years. Clara met her husband, Frank Boyle in Perryton, Texas in November of 1940. Frank operated a grain elevator. They were married on August 16, 1941 in Garden City, Kansas. They then spent their honeymoon in Colorado fishing. Frank joined the Navy during the World War II and their first anniversary was spent in Virginia Beach, VA before Frank was shipped out. Clara returned to San Angelo to be close to her family. Their first son, Robert Frank, was born while Frank was out to sea. By their 5th anniversary they were living in Dalhart, Texas and had bought the Oxford Hotel to operate. Their first visitors were their friends for life, Hugh and Emma Zue Gordon, of Dalhart, TX. Frank began farming in Dalhart while owning the hotel and a mercantile store. They were blessed with two more children, Judy, and Jim. In August 1961 the family moved to Limon, Colorado and bought a farm southwest of town. Clara enjoyed her new neighbors but it took awhile to adjust to living in the country Clara enjoyed China Painting, which she started in 1963 and continued until 2000. She enjoyed working in the church and helping other people. She was always ready for a bridge game or to go to coffee. Clara enjoyed crocheting afghans and traveling. She and Judy enjoyed many fun trips together, the first taking Troy and Brenda to Disneyland and then Disney World. After Judy moved to Lakewood, Clara traveled with her to Minnesota, Canada, Nova Scotia, Louisiana and to Maine, to mention a few. Clara’s greatest joy came from her grandchildren, Troy and Brenda Jaklich and Matt Boyle. The grandkids spent many hours at Clara and Frank’s home and she always had something for them to eat after school or swimming. Matt would come up in the summer and holidays and would spend several weeks with his grandparents. When Troy was a toddler, he started calling Clara “Honeyâ€? and the nickname has stuck for 37 years. She is known as Honey to many friends and to all of the grandkids’ friends. She and Frank attended all of the kid’s games, school programs, band concerts and church programs. Honey and Papa were the best grandparents and they always had time for the grandkids. Clara felt she was honored to have two more grandchildren, Brenda’s husband Brandon, and Troy’s wife Stephanie. She loved and enjoyed Brandon and Stephanie and they were part of her family. Then the family grew again. Great-Grandchildren, Honey had 5. Jenna Jaklich (4), John Jaklich (2) and baby Jamisen Jaklich (9 weeks), and Jaley Benedict (4) and Jordyn Benedict (18 mo.). She felt so fortunate to live close to the kids so she could see them often, and each time she would say whoever was there was “the cutest thing I have ever seenâ€?. When Jamisen came home from the hospital, Judy took Honey to see Jami. Stephanie brought Jami over for Honey to hold and Honey said “oh no, I might drop herâ€?. Stephanie brought Jami in here arms, and Honey just cuddled her and loved her and looked to see how tiny she was. The great grandchildren always made her smile and happy and ended up being her conversation topic with her friends. After a fall at her home in 2000, she moved to Lakewood to be close to Judy and her family. She lived in assisted living and had wonderful caregivers and friends and family to visit. She fell and broke her hip on October 19th and passed away from complications on October 26, 2005 at the Hospice of St. John in Lakewood at the age of 93. With Judy holding her hand, she smiled when Judy mentioned Troy, Brenda and Matt and the great grandchildren, then shut her eyes and very peacefully went home to Jesus. Clara is survived by her son Robert and wife Micki Boyle of Amarillo, TX; her daughter Judy Jaklich of Lakewood, CO, her three grandchildren; Troy and wife Stephanie Jaklich of Arvada, CO and their children; Jenna, John and Jamisen, Brenda and husband Brandon Benedict of Littleton, CO and their children; Jaley and Jordyn, and Matt Boyle of Amarillo, TX. Clara’s sister; Mary and Fred Baker of Edmond, OK, and brother; Bill and Mary Bailey of San Angelo, TX her sister-in-law; Fannie Dart of Woodward, OK; many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank, and youngest son Jim, one brother; Bud Bailey and sisters; Sallie Snyder, Eula Williams and Bobbie Watson. Services for Clara were held October 29, 2005 at the First Baptist Church of Limon, CO at 3:00 p.m. with interment immediately following at Pershing Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers were Larry Winkelman, Steve Winkelman, John Higgins, Doug Ratzlaff, Ray Thieman and Willie Baker, officiating services were Pastor Rick Taylor and Pastor Chad Thieman. Arrangements were made by Love Funeral Home of Limon, CO.
