Obituary of Dale Arfsten

Clifford Dale Arfsten (always known as Dale) was born December 1, 1936 in Limon, Colorado to Clifford Clinton Arfsten and Jeannette Elaine Flynn Arfsten. He was the first of 5 children and they were all raised in Limon. Dale suffered a severe high fever as an infant which left him a bit delayed in brain function and emotions. However, he never had an unkind word for anyone and was able to live a good life. He attended school in Limon Colorado through High School and later served 18 months in the Army. ending his military service with an honorable discharge. Dale was married and divorced two times with no children. He spent many years working with his father at the Shamrock Seals Truck Stop. He also worked at Ripps Truck stop and the Shamrock Station/Convenient store. Prior to his failing health he worked as a custodian at Carla's Care center where he enjoyed visiting with the residents and entertain them with his singing. Dale also loved to bowl, sometimes on a league. He loved Karaoke and would perform at the Limon night spots any chance he could. He would play drums at the Merchant cafe/bar with the Sonny Wright band. One of his favorite songs was "Tiny Bubbles". He loved to sing the songs of Elvis and Johnny Cash. Dale was always a friend to everyone and liked by many. He rarely complained even with the pain of cancer and other ailments. Even while residing in care centers in Arvada, he loved to entertain the others with karaoke until his health no longer allowed it. He lived all of his life in Limon CO until later in life when he had a slight stroke and cancer. His health declined and he had to be admitted to an assisted living center in the Denver area near his brother Dennis. When his health decline, even more, he was moved to a nursing care facility. During this time he was watched over by his brothers, Don (wife Margaret);Dennis (wife Ilene) and a nephew, Dr. Greg Arfsten (angels among us) . They would visit and take him out for rides or to the store; and to their homes for special occasions. His sisters, Judy and June lived out of state and would visit Dale when they were in Colorado. They have always appreciated the time and care given by these "angels". He was preceded in death by his parents, a niece, Sandra Arfsten, and a brother-in-law David Halford. He is survived by siblings: Don (Margaret) Arfsten; Dennis (Ilene) Arfsten; Judy Arfsten Halford; and June Arfsten White, and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank all those who cared for our brother. Thanks to The doctors, nurses, several care center employees and Love's funeral home. It was Dale's wish to be cremated and laid to rest near his parents at the Limon City Cemetery.
