Obituary of Virgil Lundvall

Longtime Burlington, Colorado resident Virgil Loyd Lundvall passed away February 23, 2006 at the Grace Manor Care Center in Burlington. He was 88 years old. Virgil was born in Hale, Colorado, on March 26, 1917 to Emil and Flora (Stafford) Lundvall. He was one of six children. Virgil served from April of 1942 to November of 1945 in the Army. In 1948, Virgil married Thelma Pettibone in Littleton, Colorado. This marriage later ended with the death of Thelma in 1949. On March 2, 1952, Virgil married Therese Balanga. He was an active member in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Burlington, and was also a member of the local Burlington VFW Post 6491. Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, both wives Thelma and Therese, one brother Archie Lundvall and one sister Lillian Ebler. He is survived by three sisters, Violet Knapp of Burlington; Ethel Devlin of Salida, Colorado; and Thelma Williams of Maryville, Missouri. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Lundvall were held on Monday, February 27, 2006 at 10:00 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Bill Viergutz officiating. Burial followed in the Fairview Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Burlington VFW Post 6491. Visitation was held on Sunday, February 26, 2006 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Love Funeral Home in Burlington. Memorials may be made in Virgil’s name to the Trinity Lutheran Church or to the Burlington VFW and may be left at the Bank of Burlington, Burlington, Colorado.
