Obituary of Faye Cockreham

Faye Mabel Cockreham, age 96 of Hugo passed away March 9, 2006 at the Lincoln Community Nursing Home in Hugo. On October 4, 1909 Faye was born a twin weighing seven and one half pounds to David Elias and Nellie Nora (Brolier) Pointer at their home in Stanton County Kansas. She was one of eight children. Faye married Edward Cockreham at her parent’s home in Moscow, Kansas on November 16, 1927. There were two children: Edna Lee and Edwin “Corkyâ€? Cockreham. The couple moved from Kansas to a farm/ranch north of Arriba, Colorado in 1944. Faye was a member of the First Congregational Church in Arriba. She was involved with the Women’s Fellowship and always volunteered to prepare a dish or do baking for many church dinners. Faye was a 4-H Leader for many years, a member of the Colorado Cattlewomen’s Association. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cooking, baking, fishing and traveling Faye was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Edwin, a daughter Edna and her husband Everett Schifferens, three brothers Merle, Floyd, and Nelson and two sisters Ethel A. Woodley and twin Margaret May Brite. A professional grandmother Faye is survived by eight grandchildren; Jean Ann Schifferns and husband Steve Nussbam of Portland, Organ, Ed and wife Jan Schifferns of Arriba, Colorado, Valarie and husband Eric Boone of Seibert, Colorado, Victor Cockreham of Seibert, Colorado, Vinnette Cockreham of Seibert, Colorado, Vanice Cockreham of Genoa, Colorado, Velvet and husband Rick Bradley of Belleview, Nebraska, and David and wife Sheralee Cockreham of Briggsdale, Colorado. A daughter-in-law Yvonne Cockreham of Seibert, Colorado. One brother Carl and wife Florence Pointer of Flowery Branch, Georgia, and one sister Irene Revel of Great Bend, Kansas, also survive. Also surviving are fifteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Tuesday March 14, 2006 at the First Congregational Church in Arriba with pastor Bob Strauch officiating. Burial followed at the Arriba Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Lincoln County 4-H Foundation c/o Shelly Lofdahl 20165 Highway 109 Karval, Colorado 80823 Visitation was held from 1-4 p.m. at the Love Funeral home in Limon on Monday March 13, 2006.
