Obituary of Leona Allison

Leona Rae Allison of Deer Trail, CO died March 25, 2006 at her home in Deer Trail. She was 59. Leona was born October 8, 1946 to Wesley and Shirley (Gerkin) Pisel in Denver, CO. Leona accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of 12. She was a member of the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church of Byers, CO. Leona was raised and educated in Deer Trail, CO. After graduating High School she started attending Beauty School and later dropped out to marry her high school sweetheart, Melvin Allison on October 11, 1964. To this union two daughters were born; Robyn Rae and Christa Jean. She was a homemaker and played a major role in helping her husband, Melvin with his carpentry business. She later went to work at Aurora Travel Agency and later transferred to Horizon Travel. Leona was currently employed at the Deer Trail Tribune until she was unable to due to her health. Leona had a passion for helping people. She was always involved with her daughters and grandchildren. She was a Girl Scout Leader when her girls were young. Active in the Historical Society she was always proud of the town and started a fundraiser to get the new fence and building put up at the cemetery. In the spring she always planted and maintained the flowers at the park. The last three years she was active in the Relay for Life, both in Weld County and Strasburg. Leona always attended all the grandkids activities and supported them in all that they did. Her latest passion was to open her own formal attire store in Deer Trail to help those less fortunate to have the occasion of their dreams. Leona loved spending time with her grandkids, traveling with her husband to various antique stores, camping, planting flowers and embroidering quilt blocks. Leona is preceded in death by her father; Wesley Pisel, father-in-law; Bill Allison, siblings; Shirley Ann Pisel, Lavina Lee, sister-in-law; Ester Pisel, son-in-law; Donald Lippitt and granddaughter; Brittani Rae Lippitt. Leona is survived by husband; Melvin of Deer Trail, CO, mother; Shirley Pisel of Deer Trail, CO, mother-in-law; Ilene Allison of Deer Trail, CO, daughters; Robyn and husband Rodger Geisick of Wiggins, CO and Christa and husband Marty Buell of Meridian, ID. Grandchildren; Craig, Raeann and Katelynn Lippitt of Wiggins, CO, Alyson and Kendra Buell of Meridian, ID, sisters; Linda and husband James Johnson of Deer Trail, CO, Chris and husband Randy Roth of Byers, CO, brother; Jim Pisel of TX, many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of loving friends. Funeral services for Leona Rae Allison will be held Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at the Deer Trail Public Schools in Deer Trail, CO with interment at the Evergreen Cemetery in Deer Trail, CO.
