Obituary of Betty Coffman
Betty Jo Dunlap Coffman, age 91, died on July 21, 2015 in Loveland, Colorado at the home of Shirley Coffman and Tom Pitts. She was born on December 2, 1923 in Winfield, Kansas to Zirn and Bess Dunlap.
Betty was raised in Winfield, Kansas. She attended Southwestern College and Kansas State University, where she met Roger Bragg Coffman. Betty and Roger were married in Winfield on August 1, 1943. Daughters Connie, Lana, Shirley and Donna, and son Clyde were born of this union.
Roger (affectionately known as Doc) initially practiced veterinary medicine in Kansas and Nebraska. In 1961, Betty and Roger moved their family to Limon, Colorado, where they owned and operated the Limon Feedlot and Roger continued to practice veterinary medicine. Betty did the accounting for the veterinary practice. Together, they offered their children steady and patient guidance.
A lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, Betty willingly accepted and completed many tasks for the church. She provided leadership for the church at the local, sub-district, district and conference levels. She was a faithful member of the Body of Christ, and worked diligently to further Gods kingdom on Earth.
Betty lived her life with an unwavering trust in God, her family and her friends. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Betty was a kind person who gave generously of her time, energy and love. She believed in thrift and sensible, simple living. Her absence will be deeply felt by those who knew her, yet most of all by her children and her family.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Connie Coffman, Lana Coffman and Shirley Coffman (and husband, Tom Pitts), and by her son, Clyde Coffman (and wife, Janine). She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren, and by 2 step-grandchildren and 4 step-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Roger Bragg Coffman, her daughter, Donna Coffman, her son-in-law, Randy Bobier, a granddaughter, a grandson, her parents and her three sisters.
