Obituary of Debra Dobler
Longtime Burlington, Colorado resident Deb Dobler passed away April 4, 2006 at Presbyterian/St. Lukeâs Hospital in Denver after a six year battle with liver complications.
Deb was born October 26, 1955 in Beatrice, Nebraska to Robert and Marion Chaloupka of Swanton, Nebraska. She was the first of four girls.
Deb attended Swanton Elementary School and later graduated from Tri County High School of Dewitt, Nebraska. She then furthered her education at University of Nebraska Lincoln receiving her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, graduating in May of 1978.
Deb started her first job at Kit Carson Memorial Hospital in Burlington, Colorado, where she later became evening shift supervisor.
While in Burlington she met Raymond Dobler and they were married on June 2, 1979 at Hope Congregational Church in Bethune, Colorado. They made their home in Burlington, where they started a dairy and continued farming.
On February 27, 1981 Raymond and Deb welcomed their first son Ryan Ray Dobler. The following summer Deb started working as a nurse at kit Carson County Public Health. Raymond and Deb delivered their second child Darren Robert Dobler on November 4, 1983.
Deb was passionate about following her sonâs activities from grade school to college. Attending numerous sporting events, 4-H activities, church functions always supporting her boys no matter what the activity or function. Deb became an excellent gardener and cook over the years, enjoying feeding harvest crews and helping drive the tractor or grain cart when ever extra help was needed. Deb cared for two vegetable gardens during the summers taking great pride in the harvest of her toils.
Debâs own activities included Beta Sigma Phi, 4-H club leader, and Hope Congregational Church positions. During her involvement at Hope Church Deb served as a piano player, church secretary, vacation Bible school teacher, Sunday school teacher.
Deb served Kit Carson County as a public health nurse from 1981- 2000. Deb enjoyed her many roles at Public Health performing well-child checks, home visits, and serving as school nurse for three countries for several years.
Deb spent many hours this last year helping Ryan and his Fiancée Katie (Barger) Dobler plan their August wedding. Deb thoroughly enjoyed being involved in the wedding plans.
Survivors are Debâs husband Raymond Dobler, their two sonâs Ryan Dobler and wife Katie, and Darren Dobler all of Burlington. Her parents Robert and Marion Chaloupka; Sisters Pat and husband Don Prentice their daughters Tracey and Cristy, Terry Chaloupka all of Lincoln, NE; Shera and husband Carl Meyer and son Owen of Oksaloosa, KS.
Funeral Services were held April 7, 2006 at Hope Congregational Church at 2:00 PM with Rev. Carl Rogers and Rev. Bob Strauch officiating. Burial followed at Hope Church Cemetery.
