Obituary of Evelyn Vratil

View Video Tribute Evelyn Wood Vratil of Limon, CO passed away peacefully with family on August 3, 2006 at the age of 84. Evelyn was born January 30, 1922 in Mayetta, Kansas to Harry E. Wood and Sadie A. (Ray) Wood and was one of five children. She graduated from Mayetta High School in 1939 and went on to attend Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas earning her Home Economics degree in 1945. Evelyn Pearl Wood married Robert J. Vratil on October 19, 1947 in Denver, Colorado and they were blessed with three daughters. She was a teacher in Limon Public Schools before serving as a librarian for 18 years at the Limon Memorial Library. Evelyn was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Limon and was very active in church functions for over 60 years. She was the first curator at the Limon Heritage Museum and helped cultivate the various historical exhibits on display. She enjoyed playing golf, bridge, quilting, cross word puzzles, and reading, reading and more reading! Within the last few years Evelyn challenged her self by learning how to use a computer and email with friends and family. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Barbara Nickell, brother; Norman and sister; Aletha. Evelyn is survived by her daughters; Becky and husband Ron Duden of Colorado Springs, CO, Judy Vratil and her partner Marie Neal of Aurora, CO, three grandchildren; Kristi and husband Todd Fisher of Colorado Springs, CO, Amber Bunch of Denver, CO and Robin Nickell of Aurora, CO, brother; Oran Wood of Topeka, KS, sister; Ann Danielson of Rochester, New Hampshire, and numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. A Memorial Service for Evelyn will be held Monday, August 7, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Limon, CO with Reverends Frank and Linda Hoover officiating.
